Puddle Jumping by Amber L. Johnson

When it comes to love there’s no such thing as conventional.

Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.

Lilly Evans just thinks he’s fascinating.

Once friends when they were younger, their bond is cut short due to her accident prone nature and they go their separate ways. Years later, they meet again and Lilly learns that there is something special about the boy she once knew, but she has no idea what it all means. And she’s not sure if she’s ready to find out.

When he walks through the corridor of her school the first day of her senior year, she knows that it’s time to get to know the real Colton Neely. The more she learns, the deeper she falls.

Their friendship grows into love, even as Colton does not express it in words. But one decision threatens to break down the world that Lilly has tried so hard to integrate into and she must figure out if the relationship can survive if they are apart.

My review :

Puddle jumping is not a conventional romance, but a story about a girl falling in love with a fascinating, extraordinary boy who showed her in a certain way, a world full of colors.

This story totally captured me; i was under the spell of the author’s writing.
It began with a childhood friendship and leading to a beautiful love story. This one will amaze you in every way!

First they start their friendship when they were ten et nine years old. Even from the beginning Lily was fascinating by this boy. You have in one hand a clumsy, carefree, funny girl and on the other hand, her opposite, but expressing his feelings through colors.
Their first encounter was kind of memorable, one accident of puddle jumping, which left her marked physically. Colton was always here to rescue this clumsy girl. He went through a lot with her.

Some years later, they reconnected again when Colton came to her school. Lilly never understand why they had to be separated.
She grew up like other teenagers but at the same time, she always felt different, no feelings the same things that other kids like.

When they met again, we felt again this invisible bound they created, attracted by magnets.
Lilly was immediately attracted to him, fascinated, drawn to him. Colton is very passionate about two things : arts and Lilly. But how you can build a sense of relationship with someone like Colton? Lilly tried her best to make him feel comfortable with people, showing how beautiful this boy is.

Being again with her helped him to opened up to people, to socialize. Having Colton’s situation is not easy and a lot of people can be uncomfortable but never with Lily; she loves him the way he is; with the best and bad days. Their relationship was so natural; growing to friendship to lovers. Colton’s character is not easy to put you with; his pragmatism can be puzzling, sometimes cold. Unlike with Lily, she’s his quiet.  He may have not telling her his love, but the way he touches her, his paintings proved it. This boy is so intense and honest when it comes to her.

She was so invested in this relationship that sometimes she forget to think about her and put Colton’s happiness first. We can feel all their love and i was submerged by all these emotions. But can Lilly and Colton relationship can survive if they were apart? Despite their strong bound, can they overcome everything? They learn, grew up, getting better together.

This book was so stunning, i read this story twice and i still feel the same; a love story which completely warmed my heart! You can never chose when you fall in love; and when you do, you had to jump into it. Love is never conventional, it’s the power you give to it that makes your own story special. Reading it, through Lilly’s POV was marvelous, for a teenage girl, it was mature but also reflected her own age. I Recommend this book to everyone! The writing was so fluid, full of emotions, that reminds me why i love reading! Trust me, Lilly and Colton's journey deserves to be read!!!
