"... I think life is better when you have love. Not a friendly neighbor or old friends kind of love either, but a love that causes your heart to race and your toes to curl."

Maggie Marrion is just getting back on her feet after a horrible year, or two, or three. With their twentieth reunion approaching, she invites four of her closest friends from college for a mini-reunion at her beach cabin on Whidbey Island. What she doesn't expect is her best friends Selah and Quinn to play matchmaker. Will Maggie risk her heart and her quiet life for another chance at romance?

Gil Morrow, former grunge musician turned history professor, joins them as Selah's date for the weekend. With the support of old friends, a few wishing rocks, the world's largest burrowing clam, and a hot lumberjack thrown into the mix, Gil reminds Maggie she isn't too old to fall in love.

Reality Bites becomes The Big Chill when a group of Gen-X friends spend a summer weekend together sharing laughter, tears, life's ups and downs, old stories, second chances, and new beginnings in this humorous contemporary adult romance.

Geoducks Are for Lovers is Daisy Prescott's debut novel and the first book in the Modern Love Stories series.

My review:

I love discovering new authors, and with Daisy Prescott I wasn’t disappointed at all!

This story completely melt my heart and I fell in love with all the characters and vibe emanating from it.

The story of Maggie and Gilliam, two souls destined to be together but separated by life.

He was in love with her for years,
One night, they had sex before she went to France,
She left him,
He waited for her,
The « french incident » happened and she came back married,
She stayed with her mother until her last days,
After two weddings and divorces, they reunited, and this time, nothing was gonna stop Gilliam to win Maggie back.

I really, really love these characters : Maggie, the queen of avoidance, and running away!
She lived in a quiet place, very isolated. She enjoyed her loneliness, was comfortable with her life as a famous food blogger. But when they all reunited, being with all her best friends, she felt so happy and enjoying each moment with them. Maggie was a really endearing character, she’s funny, quirky but completely in denial with Gilliam!
Gilliam, sweet, fantastic man, caring for his friends but unable to make a move on Maggie since they were separated too long. In his youth, Gilliam wasn’t the guy that girls fell for. But this man melt my heart and makes it swoon so many times!

"I think you know I love you.

Not past tense, not friendly love. Love Love that lassoes the moon and lays at your feet."

Hopefully with the help of all of his friends, he’s ready more than ever but decided to do it one step at the time. What I loved about this modern love story besides this part, is the friendship part, taking also a great and important part in this story. How you recognize your real friends, the ones that even you didn’t see them as much as you like, were always there for you, and when you reunited, it’s like you’ve seen them yesterday, the connection was so natural.

They were playing a big part by helping Gilliam, to make Maggie realize that they meant to be together, he waited two decades to take what he wanted. His flirtatious ways with Maggie were so hot, sweet and funny at the same time. His cavemen side was very sexy, especially with Maggie’s hot lumberjack neighbor, John. She acted differently with John, little teasing but she had never cross the line. Their interactions made Gilliam a little bit jealous because she was so relaxed with him, never cautious.

This book was a really wonderful surprise and I enjoyed reading this group’s journey, through happiness, loss, love, deception, regrets and second chances at love! Daisy Prescott became one of my fave authors! Where have I been since this book was released? and it was her first novel! I recommend!!! Special mention to John and Quinn!
