Review: Falling Away (Fall Away #3) by Penelope Douglas

Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid.

K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away....

K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

My review :

Falling away is the book 3 of the Fall Away series.
I was so impatient to read K.C and Jax’s story.
This one was deeply emotional, as all the others books. But this time it was a little bit different, because we saw K.C and Jaxon since the beginning of this series and their story was "dormant" until K.C came back to town after two years.

Jaxon is Jared’s little brother. He’s wild, untamed, very handsome, mysterious. Jax means trouble to all of people. This young man is also a genius computer and uses his skills to help the ones he loved.
He is definitely my favorite character, very complex guy, with a big heart, but scared inside like a little boy.
K.C is Tate’s best friend and used to date Liam, who cheated on her. She seemed very carefree girl, having fun with her friends, but actually she always felt alone, like she didn’t belong here. People saw here like a princess, material girl.
Like Jaxon, she had a tough childhood, and her past affected her everyday.

The attraction that Jaxon was feeling towards K.C was undeniable and besides their 2 years age of difference, she was the first and only woman he wanted in his life, even if deep inside he thought he wasn’t worthy of her. His behavior showed how bad he wanted to be with her, claim her, like K.C was his.
They both have profounds scars and the dual POV gave us a very good perspective of their fears, hopes, feelings. Jax was the pusher, always trying to shake her up, K.C was the reluctant one, struggling for her intern battle, conflicted by all her feelings. They were so different, but so alike in so many ways: past, how people saw them, how they won’t show to people who they really are.

Throughout all the story, we have this sexual tension, anger, lust, making this story so powerful and intense. They both wanted to be happy, to be in charge of their lives, without being trapped by their parents, which was difficult, like a shadow, threatening their future.
But even coming back to her town, it’s like they always meet each other everywhere and she lived in Tate’s house. So the chances that he wouldn’ t see him were thin.
Thanks to Jaxon, K.C became to fight back, being confident and the way Jax was pushing her was challenging. I loved Jax influence on K.C even if he was a bully sometimes.

This story was extremely intense as the first ones, taking me to a whirlwind of emotions, leaving me speechless. I was experiencing K.C and Jaxon’s lives so much and their fight to find happiness finally together was so moving! You can’t be indifferent to this story of these two lost souls, who found in each other a deep and caring love, that brings unity and a divine dimension to their lives. This was a hard and arduous trail but seing them together was stunning.
The end left me very conflicted about the next one and I don’t know if i would be ready to read Aflame. I can sense that this one is gonna be very, strongly charged emotionally, but i'm gonna read it anyway, because Penelope Douglas knows how to grab the reader's attention and take them by the guts!
